THE 2010 SOLING NORTH AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIP

Will be hosted by the Loyalist Soling Fleet and take place at Loyalist Cove Marina, Bath Ontario CANADA

From July 2nd to July 4th, 2010.



Organising authority

The organising authority is the International Soling Association, and the Canadian International Soling Association (CISA) in conjunction with Loyalist Soling Fleet.



1. Rules

1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.

1.2 The prescriptions of the Canadian Yachting Association (National Authority) will not apply.

1.3 The ISA Class and Championship Rules will apply.

1.4 The following racing rules will be changed: 28.1, 32, 35, 42.3(c), 60.1(a), 61.3, 62.2, A4.1, A4.2 and Race Signals AP and S. The changes will appear in full in the Sailing Instructions. The Sailing Instructions may also change other racing rules.

1.5 Amendments to any of the rules applying to the regatta must be approved and signed by the ISA Liaison Officer appointed for the event.



2. Advertising

All Advertising must comply with ISAF Regulation 20



3. Eligibility and entry

3.1 The regatta is open to all yachts of the International Soling Class as prescribed in Championship Rule 4 – Eligibility.

3.2 ISA Membership is obligatory for all crew members. Membership fees will be collected from any crew member failing to present proof of previously paid membership fee.

3.3 It is also required that all yachts entering display the ISA sticker for the current year. An additional amount will be collected from the helmsman or representative of any yacht not displaying the ISA sticker of the current year at the appropriate position.

3.4 Eligible boats may enter by completing the entry forms (available on www.soling.ca or at Loyalist Cove Marina during registration times) no later than July 1st, completing registration and payment of all fees



4. Classification

The ISAF Sailor Classification Code will apply.



5. Fees

The entry fee will be CAD$265 and may be paid by cash, or cheque payable to (Loyalist Soling Fleet). The entry fee includes boat launching and removal by crane, trailer storage, vehicle parking, mooring, and two event meals. 6. Registration

The Race Office at Loyalist Cove Marina will be open for registration on July 1st, 2010 between 14:00 to 19:00



7. Schedule

7.1 Sail stamping and safety inspections will take place at Loyalist Cove Marina on July 1st, 2010 starting at 10:00.

7.2 Racing is scheduled as follows:

7.3 The first warning signal each day will be at 11:00 on July 2nd and July 3rd, and will be at 10:00 on July 4th.

7.4 On the last day of the regatta no warning signal will be made after 14:00.



8. Measurement

Yachts will be measured in accordance with ISA Championship Rule 7.0 Measuring and Class Rules 16 and 17. For a yacht to be eligible to race, her valid (the original or a copy of the original) Measurement Form shall be presented at the Race Office, and the helmsman must have satisfied all measurement and registration requirements as specified in this Notice of Race including the submission (at the completion of measurement) of properly completed measurement work sheets. If the Measurement Form cannot be produced before the first race, RRS 78.2 will be applied.



9. Sailing instructions

Sailing Instructions will be available at registration.



10. Course area

Racing will take place on the waters of Lake Ontario directly south of the entrance to Loyalist Cove Marina in Bath Ontario.



11. The courses

Standard ISA Championship courses will be used.



12. Penalty system

12.1 The Two-Turns Penalty, rule 44.2, will apply.



13. Scoring

13.1 The Low Point Scoring System of RRS A4 will apply.

13.2 6 races are scheduled of which 4 must be completed to constitute a valid championship.

13.3 a) When fewer than 6 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores.

b) When 6 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.



14. Prizes

North American Championship Trophy – awarded to top placing boat (Gold Fleet)

2nd and 3rd Places will also be recognised with awards within the Gold Fleet

Van Dyke Award – awarded to top placing boat (Silver Fleet)

North American “Classic” Championship Trophy – awarded to top placing boat built prior to Jan 1, 1980

Daily Prizes will be awarded.



15. Disclaimer of liability

Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.



16. Insurance

Each participating boat shall have adequate insurance cover specifically including third party liability cover while racing of at least CAD$300,000.00 for the duration of the regatta.



17. Launching:

All boats must be launched by 21:00 on July 1st, 2010 and remain in the water for the duration of racing. Exceptions to this must be authorized on a case by case basis by the Principal Race Officer or the Chief Judge.
